It was simply fixed to work with Windows 8. I was hoping that the auto brightness function would be improved dramatically, along with a few other drivers, with the 5.0 Bootcamp update. It will only need to be adjusted once per power plan, the setting will be remembered after that. Open Windows Control Panel, open Windows Mobility Centre and adjust the brightness here. Remember that if you ever change your power plan, it is on by default, so you will need to turn it off as well if you change your power plan. Open Windows Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound, then in the Power Options Section, click on 'Change power-saving settings.' Theres a slider to adjust brightness at the bottom of the window. Find where it says "Adjust my screen brightness automatically" and turn it off Open up the charms bar on the right side by dragging your mouse to one of the corners The problem I have with this is the fact that when it IS too dark in a light room, you can't manually turn it up higher without shining a bright light on the laptop, or just turning the function off altogether. You might as well turn it off, because half of the time it does not set itself bright enough in a partially bright room.
